Things to do on Islay
Islay has lots going on, it's a fantastic place for bird-watching all year-round. The fields beside the RSPB Reserve at Loch Gruinart are home to thousands of barnacle and Greenland white-fronted geese in the winter, with spectacular flights almost daily from October through to April.
The Islay Jazz Festival is an extraordinary and totally unique event - a Jazz Festival which presents the best jazz you can hear anywhere in Scotland in the most unusual, atmospheric and inspirational venues. The whole of the Hebridean island is the backdrop for the Festival.

water to Jura. The annual Whisky Festival takes place end of May/beginning
of June and attracts visitors from all over the world to savour and

Visit the Machrie Links Golf Course for one of the most challenging "18 holes" of your life - and spend a while in the hotel bar afterwards perusing their extensive whisky menu. You'll need a nip or two to recover!
If it's just a spot of rest and relaxation you're after - look no further.
Islay offers many quiet, almost deserted spots with panoramic views of
mountains and seashore. It is among the most rugged, beautiful scenery in
the whole of Scotland - and you'll almost certainly be moved by it. Quiet
village life gives you the perfect opportunity to step back from the hustle
bustle of every day life and really feel like you're on holiday.
